Joomla site admin panel - first acquaintance
Hello dear friends in this series of articles we will look at the CMS Joomla and go through the main points in the settings and components.
Now let's talk about what kind of CMS it is. At the very beginning, everything that we will perform will be associated with the administrative panel, or as it is also called the "administrative part". To get into this area of your browser, enter the name of your site, put the “/” symbol and write “administrator”, for example, on my site it will look like “Mysite.com/administrator”. Click "Enter". Next, you must log in to access the administrative panel, enter the data specified during the Joomla installation. Next, we go to our admin panel. It looks like this:
On the main page of the control panel, we see the following - left and top menu, as well as the main central part of the page. Using the left menu, you can get to the settings panel, maintenance and other manipulations with the website, the top menu, in principle, contains the same set of tools, and the central area of the page displays data about users on the website, new and popular articles that are available or will soon appear on the site.
We will begin our acquaintance with Joomla from the top menu, it is with its help that we will further navigate through the sections of the site's control panel. It is divided into main sections and looks like this:
And the first item of the menu, which we observe, "System", with its help you can get to the page of general CMS options, cache management and get data about the system. In general, the picture shows everything.
I want to warn you right away that within the framework of this article, all stages will not be considered, now it is important for us to just get acquainted with the basics of working with the sections of the control panel.
The next menu item "Users" is used to perform all actions related to the site user. Users can be added, removed, grouped by any criteria, manage access rights to certain sections of the site, and much more.
This is followed by the eponymous menu item "Menu". With its help, you can create and edit the site menu, and then use the modules to display it on the site pages anywhere.
The next and one of the most important menu items that we will work with every time we enter the admin panel is the "Materials" menu item. With its help, you can go to the pages for creating and editing materials, creating categories, etc. It is materials (in other words, articles) that are the main component of any site.
The "Components" menu is used to access all installed elements in Joomla 3, there can be quite a lot of them. In the basic assembly of Joomla there are already similar components, such as banners, contacts, tags, news feed, search, redirects and some others. After installing new components, they will also be displayed in this section.
The "Extensions" section, accessible through the menu of the same name, allows you to manage all the extensions in Joomla 3, whether they are modules, plugins, templates or components.
And the last section that is present in the admin panel of Joomla 3 sites is the "Help" section.
With its help you can get help on this CMS, also go to the official website of the developers, talk on the support forum, find new extensions and localizations for Joomla 3.
For the best understanding of all of the above, I recommend that you go to each section and see what it is all the same. If you are not aware of something, it is acceptable, but later, as you become more familiar with it, everything will become clear. And now the main thing is to have a general idea of what and where is in the "admin" Joomla 3. This lesson is over.
